No big changes. Ishikawa gets another start as Gamel rests his shoulder after his collision at home plate.

Brewers Defeat Astros 9-6

The Brewers showed a lot of pop last night as the defeated the Astros at Miller Park. Randy Wolf also threw very well going six innings and only allowing two earned runs on four hits. The Brewers slug fest was started in the bottom of the fifth behind a two run home run by Travis Ishikawa, who started for Mat Gamel. The Brewers notched two more home runs in the sixth. Corey Hart hit a two run bomb and Rickie Weeks added a three run home run of his own. These home runs set Wolf up for his first win of the season. Carlos Gomez also added a pinch hit homer in the bottom of the eighth. The bullpen pitched well for the most part, Loe came in and had a solid inning, getting out of a bases loaded jam and only allowing one run. His next third of an inning wasn’t as good. Manny Parra and K-Rod finished off the Kameron Loe inning. John Axford came in in the ninth and closed the door on the Astros for his 47th consecutive regular season save. A streak that started a year ago to the day on April 24, 2011. I really liked what I saw out of the Brewers for the most part. I liked to see them attack the ball like they did and it really paid off. Braun really struggled, going 0-5, but I don’t really worry about him. Also, it was nice to see Nyjer get things going with a 3-5 night.

Sorry for the lack of coverage lately, been a busy week. Will be back on from now on. Lineup looks about the same, glad to see Norichika Aoki getting a start in center field.

Brewers Fall To Dodgers 4-3

I was unable to watch the game today, so I don’t have too much to say. It looks like Aramis is getting into the the swing of things finally, and Ishikawa played well starting for Mat Gamel. Randy Wolf struggled again and has still not recorded a win. The Brewers play the Rockies at 7:10 PM. Marcum is on the mound for the Brewers.

Brewers Win On Another Walk-Off

The Brewers win!!! Greinke and Capuano both pitched well. The offenses were playing another chess match looking for ways to score. The Brewers found that way in the bottom of the tenth when Braun hit a shallow fly ball to Matt Kemp in center. Nyjer Morgan got the hold up sign but ignored it, slid into home, and broke the 2-2 tie to win 3-2. It was another game of resilience. I love this team! Go Brewers! Also a shout out to Aramis Ramirez who belted his first home run of the season! Too excited! AHHHHH GOTTA GO!

Traditional lineup. Nice to have Gonzalez back for Izturis. Zack Greinke looks to stay undefeated at home. Milwaukee will take on ex-Brewer Chris Capuano in game two of the three game series. Game time is scheduled for a 7:10 PM start at Miller Park.

George Kottaras’ Walk-Off Starts Homestand

The Brewers were down 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth with men on first and second with one out. Cesar Izturis was next up, but Roenicke sends up the red hot George Kottaras to hit for him. George Kottaras stayed on fire ripping a double to left center field. With a play at the plate, Mat Gamel had a phenomenal slide to score the games winning run. How many back-up catchers bat .417 with 3 homers and 8 RBIs with a slugging percentage of 1.250 to start of the season? Not many, but George Kottaras is doing just that. Mat Gamel was a vital part in the victory as well. He hit his first home run on a blast to the Toyota Tundra Territory, went 2-3, stole a base, and scored three runs, the last one being the game winner. This kid has a ton of potential and he showed it last night. Izturis actually went 2-3 as well and drove in Jonathan Lucroy in the second.  Norichika Aoki laid down a nice suicide squeeze bunt to score Mat Gamel in the seventh as well. The starters for both teams, Gallardo and Billingsley, were both very good. Jose Veras pitched well in the ninth to get the victory, but K-Rod continued to struggle giving up a two-run home run in the eighth to Andre Eithier to give the Dodgers the 4-3 lead. George Kotarras delivered in the clutch in the bottom of the ninth driving in two runs to win on a walk-off double. This is one of the best games I’ve watched the Crew play, it was exciting, they showed resilience, and they won in walk off fashion. This is going to be a great series and a great year as well. I can’t wait to see what else Milwaukee will do this year.

P Yovani Gallardo

Reigning MVP Ryan Braun and the Milwaukee Brewers take on MVP Runner Up Matt Kemp and the Dodgers. The Brewers are taking on the hottest team in baseball right now, the Dodgers, who are 9-1. The Brewers are in the midst of a four game losing streak and look to snap that tonight. No big changes in the lineup besides Izturis is still at short for Gonzalez. Yovani is on the mound for the Crew tonight as they take on Chad Billingsley. I have a feeling this will be a very intense three game series.

Brewers Lose Fourth Straight 7-4

The Brewers’ struggles continue on Jackie Robinson Day. They drop their fourth straight, and get swept in three games by the Braves. The Brewers have been looking bad at the plate the last two games. Milwaukee managed only one run Saturday and only one until the ninth inning today. In the ninth they got a boost from Braun, Hart, and Lucroy in the top of the ninth. Braun doubled, Hart doubled and scored Braun, then Lucroy hit a two out homer to make the score 7-4. Beachy, like Minor, really caused the Brewers problems at the plate. We couldn’t get anything going and could barely make contact at times. Aramis Ramirez is now batting .114 and Morgan isn’t much better at .143. The pitching has struggled as of late too, with the exception of Shaun Marcum who threw pretty well Saturday. Narveson pitched 4 innings and allowed 5 earned runs. Axford pitched a third of an inning alowing a hit, two walks, and one earned run. If our pitching ever settles down, we should be just fine. The bullpen, and the starters for that matter, really need to buckle down. Milwaukee is all until Tuesday when they take on the Dodgers at home. Chad Billingsley is on the hill for the Dodgers and Yo is on the mound for the Brew Crew. Game time Tuesday is scheduled for 7:10 PM.

SS Cesar Izturis

P Chris Narveson

It is Jackie Robinson day in the MLB today. Jackie Robinson is the man who broke the color barrier in baseball and made it what it is today. A true hero not just for baseball, but for the nation as a whole. Cesar Izturis is in the starting line up again as Alex Gonzalez is at home with his wife in Florida, who gave birth to their new baby boy, Axel David. Nyjer Morgan is starting in center but other than that the lineup looks the same. Chris Narveson looks to put another win in the book as he hurls against Atlanta’s Brandon Beachy. Narveson is 1-0 this year, with his win coming against the Cubs. The Brewers look to snap their losing streak and build some momentum for their homestand where they take on the Dodgers, Rockies, and Astros. The Brewers are going to hit the ball well today in order to compete. The Braves pack a lot of power and pop in their bats. Rickie Weeks and Aramis Ramirez need to get it going for the Crew. They both have vital roles in the lineup but have yet to hit the ball well. The Brewers look to get their record back up to .500 with a win today.

Minor Silences Brewers, Lose 2-1

The Brewers could not get anything going yesterday. Mike Minor was on top of his game, throwing seven and a third innings while only giving up 2 hits. Shaun Marcum was on the wrong side of this pitchers duel, he threw seven innings giving up just three hits and two earned runs. That would have been a win for him on most nights but Minor was just too much for the Brewers bats. The Brewers resume action today 12:35 PM. Chris Narveson takes on Brandon Beachy in this pitching match-up. The Brewers look to snap their three game losing streak today, and leave the road trip on a positive note.

Nothing out of the ordinary here, with the exception of Cesar at shortstop for Gonzalez. Gonzalez was placed on the paternity list and Eric “eRoc” Farris has been called up. The Brewers are looking to continue their hot batting from last night, but our pitchers have to control their batting as well. Hopefully Hart can keep producing like he has been and the other follow suit. Marcum threw very well in his first start, hopefully he can keep it going in this one as well.

Brewers Lose to Braves, 10-8

Corey Hart drove his fourth home run of the season into the left center seats in the top of the seventh to tie it up at 8. He hit one that landed in the yellow, but they called it back. K-Rod came in in the set up role, looking the record another hold, but instead he allowed two earned runs and got the loss. Alex Gonzalez and George Kottaras continue to show the pop in their bat as well. As Gonzalez recorded his second and Kottaras recorded his third. The Crew plays the Braves again at 6:10 PM. Shaun Marcum is on the mound for Milwaukee and Mike Minor is hurling for the Braves.

Braun and company look to recover from a dismal game yesterday. The Brewers managed only 3 hits in their last game against the Cubs. The Brewers are currently 4-3 and the Braves are 2-4.
